Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is there parking?

Yes! There is two and one hour free parking right outside our doorstep on Royal Street.

  • Do you accept on the spot health funds claims?

Yes! Reece is accredited with all of the major health funds, and has a HICAPs terminal at reception. Make sure you bring your health fund card with you to every treatment as rebates must be done before or directly after the service.

  • Will my health fund cover me for Remedial Massage?

Although most health funds will cover a portion of Remedial Massage, this should be checked prior to the session as some health funds or membership types do not cover patients for Remedial Massage. This should be done by calling the health fund directly, or a quote can be done on our HICAPS machine.

  • What is the style of massage at Bodyworks Sydney?

At Bodyworks Sydney, we prefer to use a moderate to deep style of pressure in our treatments. We will always provide an assessment as part of the treatment, followed by a remedial approach to our sessions such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy and various other techniques.

  • When is the best time to get a massage if I am planning on doing a workout?

We recommend where possible, to workout prior to coming to a remedial massage with Bodyworks Sydney. Intense strength training after receiving a deep tissue massage, can run the risk of causing further muscular injury due to the heavy massage pressure. A massage after a workout is the perfect start to recovery post workout! At least 12 hours rest from high intensity training is recommended after a deep tissue massage.

  • Is it normal to feel some tenderness after a massage?

Like after strength training or sport, sometimes there can be some muscle tenderness directly after a remedial massage. This usually disappears within 24 hours but can last up to 48 hours post deep tissue massage. This is part of the bodies healing and inflammation process. It is encouraged to do mild physical activity like going for a walk to encourage blood flow a few hours after the massage where possible.

  • Do you provide relaxation massage?

Although there may be elements of relaxation in parts of our sessions, we do not specifically provide a relaxation style massage at Bodyworks Sydney. We aim to treat with purpose; to treat injuries, posture related pain and to improve the quality of life of our community. We believe that this is best achieved through the remedial approach that Bodyworks Sydney has adopted.
